We wanted to wave at you as the fleeting weeks of summer bless our souls. Everyone we know is busy. Well, except for a few people. Cheers to those folks.
Our summer has been very full! Earthwork Music has released a FREE mid-summer sampler, featuring singles from the most recent half-dozen Earthwork albums, including the title tracks from May's new album "The Long Way Home" and "Harvest Queen", a Bernard family album of waltzes and a longtime dream of ours that has beautifully come to fruition with the magic of Kailin Yong, in the form of a tribute to Grandma Jeanette Bernard.

Airborne or Aquatic?'s dreams came true and then some a couple of weeks ago as Seth and the boys sojourned to Rock, Michigan and recorded all of the basic tracks for their new album at Finn Hall, a 98 year old music hall and community space owned and nurtured by our friends Jim and Tammy. A might team of rockers and a robust squad of engineers all congregated for this highly anticipated occasion and as the week progresses, Finnish elders visited the sessions and told the crew stories of the days of the Rock Cooperative Movement and the dances, movies, basketball games, boxing matches, funerals, weddings and town hall meetings that took place in the space. The album and short documentary will be released sometime in 2013.
Epic times have been shared on the Michigan festival circuit and at camps, clubs and theaters this summer and we are grateful for all of the love and support that you have given us! Michigan's local culture and community spirit is alive and well and fuels us every day.
Last weekend, best Hoxeyville ever, filled with Michigan music makers and world-renowned talent. We played on Friday with Joshua Davis, Brennan Andes, Mike Shimmin and special guests Jeremy Kittel and Tyler Duncan! Seth played a set with Paul Hoffman of Greensky Bluegrass on Saturday morning and Airborne or Aquatic? also rocked the Hoxeyville Stage. May performed with the Earthwork Women on Sunday - Check out some great video of May leading Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer".
Now: UP!. We've eased across the bridge to the UP for Grandma Jeanette's 99th birthday party and a short tour with Shimmin and Brennan to follow! TONIGHT!, Wednesday, August 22nd, we will be at UpFront and Co in Marquette for a 21+ show starting at 10pm. And TOMORROW, Thursday, August 23rd, we will be at the Orpheum Theatre in Hancock for an all ages show starting at 7:30pm. And then on to the Porcupine Mountains Music Festival, for our 6th consecutive performance at one of our very favorites, in the midst of Michigan's greatest old growth. The schedule this year is awesome, as always.
Tickets are on sale now for the Earthwork Harvest Gathering and the schedule will be up later today! Volunteer positions abound and we could use your help spreading the word about EWHG 2012. Make the circle wide and enter with intention. We will be in touch again before Harvest with more news and details.
Thank you again for your support.
Keep up the Quest!
